Tips for Student Success

This page contains a working list of things that I believe to be the most beneficial for a child's education. These are NOT my tips for parenting. These are simply things known to help children sustain a healthy and productive lifestyle in and out of school. In no particular order they are:

1. Sleep
Most health professionals recommend 10-12 hours a day for an elementary student

2. Nutrition:
Cooking is a great hobby and a fun family activity. I will post/send home some easy and fun recipes to do together. Remember that a colorful plate is a healthy plate. Also, don't overlook the power of water. Water is so important for our bodies.

3. Learning continues at home
There are so many daily activities that require educational skills. One of the most important things to do is to read at least 15 minutes per child per day. It can be anything from the newspaper, to a bedtime story, to the instructions booklet from their new video game or toy. Please visit my Everyday Education page to find more ways to highlight learning at home.

4. Homework help
Thought this does fall under the previous point, homework is such a powerful tool that it can't be overlooked. I have a links page that contains great ways to help your student with their homework. Never hesitate to call my phone number and ask me a question. All adults run into that moment where you forgot a skill you learned in elementary or high school and just need a refresher. Don't worry, it happens to everyone.
